Bobby Walker has it all: a good job, a nice family, devoted friends and a shiny car in the garage. Living a perfect life - an object of envy for many, Bobby has no reasons to make complaints, until the company, he works for, announces of a corporate downsize. Thus the successful sales executive turns in the twinkling of an eye into unemployed, like many of his co-workers.
Walker loses his brand new Porche, his good salary and lands on the street level. It’s high time for the former sales executive tested his approach to life, his relations and bonds with those around him. The soul-searching brings Walker to his brother-in-law, who offers Bobby a job of building houses.
The film, written and directed by John Wells, explores the helplessness, discourage and powerlessness of unemployed people, who yesterday were successful professionals, and today have to save money to survive in this unfair world.
The all-star cast of the film including Ben Affleck, Chris Cooper, Tommy Lee Jones and Kevin Costner did their best in creating a thoughtful look at the life of hard-working men – the unsung heroes of our full of misfortunes reality.
