“The Exploding Girl” is a film, telling us an intricate love story, involving number of uncertain feelings, that pass through a person, when he is not sure, whether he is loved or not.

Ivy has finished her semester at college and has a summer break from studies, which she decides to spend by her mother house in Brooklyn. But Ivy seems to miss her boyfriend badly over here. The only way they can connect is by the phone, and she calls him quite often, but in most cases they seem can’t get through.

Most of her spare time the girl spends with her good friend Al, living thereabouts. Al has a secret passion for Ivy, as he has been in love with her for quite a long time. His longstanding crush is nevertheless unknown for Ivy. He always hides his feelings, either because of his respect of their friendship, of which he doesn’t want to take a risk, or probably due to his fear to be rejected.

As the vacations pass by, Ivy suffers from the slow end of her college relations. At the same time she is forced to deal with her epilepsy attacks. When due to circumstances Al has to stay at Ivy’s home, his feelings get strengthen even more.

The plot of “The Exploding Girl” was written and directed by Bradley Rust Gray. So Yong Kim, his wife, produced the film.
