The drama film, directed by Stéphane Brizé, “Mademoiselle Chambon” describes a quiet and ordinary life of an elementary school teacher in a provincial town.
Véronique Chambon rents an apartment, where she spends almost all of her time, free from classes. Once she asks the parents of her pupils to come to school in order to get to know them and their occupation. Thus Véronique encounters a class parent Jean, whose shy behavior while explaining his daily routine makes the teacher to get interested in this strange man. Jean is a simple home builder, who has a family, and of course there is a distance between them, because of social difference and moral principles.
Nevertheless the attraction between Jean and Véronique grows, turning to an unexpected romance. This is a very delicate and special relationship, full of hidden passion, strong feelings and charm. The excellent play of Sandrine Kiberlain and Vincent Lindon (who are divorced in real life), brings to “Mademoiselle Chambon” that loving atmosphere, which keeps the viewer in suspense. This is an elegant and dramatic love story about the impossible relations between two beloved, who have met each other by chance and couldn’t pass by…
