The drama film, written and directed by Lance Daly, touches upon the subject of ill treatment of children, and its consequences which follow as a result.

The main heroes of this touching story are two kids Dylan and Kylie, who suffer from their parents’ cruelty. Shane Curry, starring as Dylan, is a boy of eleven years old and an unhappy son of a drunkard. Tired from a constant beating, which his father often practices, the boy decides to run away from home.

Kylie, played by Kelly O'Neill, is a 10-years-old girl and his close friend, living in the neighborhood. She is also a victim of an abusive family. So when she learns about Dylan’s plans, Kylie decides to accompany him. The girl steals money from her family and together with Dylan they run to Dublin. A barge they use for running is driven by a sailor, who displays his sincere sympathy to the kids. That is a kind man, absolutely keen on music.

The barge brings the pair of runaways to Dublin soon. The Christmas season has just begun, and Dylan and Kylie find the streets of the city having a festive appearance. By day Dublin is full of special magic and beauty, the festive mood is in the air. But by night the runaways face another side of it – the sinister and threatening streets are full of unexpected troubles…
