Joey was born in the family, where domestic abuse and alcohol addiction were all in a day's work. According to the court’s decision the young boy had been separated from his birth parents and later adopted by a wealthy and very respectable family of Campbell, living in Florida. The new parents have enfolded Joey in care and love, which he lacked before. His childhood in the Campbell family became a dream.
But the idyllic family life was disturbed once by a phone call. The former parents of the boy announced their intention to take their son back. Fighting for Joey’s future, the families come to a serious conflict. One family intend to keep Joey in the family, he has got accustomed to, the other one has just started a new life free from abuse and alcoholism and dream of reuniting with their son…
The events of the film are based on the original novel and bestseller, written by Karen Kingsbury.
