“Cairo Time” written and directed by Ruba Nadda, is a moving love story between two people of different cultures and traditions.
Juliette is a middle-aged woman, working as a fashion magazine editor. Her children have already grown up and left home, her husband Mark is also out – he works as a UN official in Gaza. One day Juliette travels to Cairo. She has a three week vacation, which she dreams to spend together with her dear husband. Many years have passed since their marriage, passionate dreams got changed by routine and responsibilities, but still she adores Mark and longs for him badly.
As the woman arrives to the ancient city, she gets to know, that Mark is busy and can’t meet her for a while. But instead of himself he sends his security guard, who has served Mark for many years and is also a good friend of him. Tareq is an Arab, whose mission now is to escort mistress and show her Cairo in all its beauty. While Juliette and Tareq are seeing the beautiful sights of the ancient city and exchange thoughts, they become closer and closer. Both are caught off guard by a sudden and unexpected attraction to each other. And they can’t resist the temptation of this love from a first sight…
“Cairo Time” is a film, where West and East meet each other: culture, lifestyle and love between a North American woman and an Arab man.
