The dramatic events of the film are related to the year 1982. This is the time of The First Lebanon War. A single tank accompanied by a platoon of paratroopers is sent to perform a seemingly simple task. The mission of the tank crew is to find a hostile town.
The scenario of the film is written by Samuel Maoz, who is also a director of “Lebanon”. The events of this war drama are based on own recollections of Maoz and his experience as a novice soldier, who has served in the Israeli Army during the war.
The film’s action takes place in a tank cabin, and the world outside the tank interior is shown the way, how the tank crew can see it – through a lens of a periscopic gun.
The simple task, which turned to a real nightmare for the tank crew members, became their test for survival. The film shows brutal violence and the total chaos of war, which causes nothing else in the human being but the constant fear, where the basic instinct predominates over the man.
The process of writing down and filming his sufferings in Israeli Army became a good remedy for Maoz, who managed to get rid of fears and painful memories, caused by wartime troubles.
Starring in the film are young but promising Israeli actors, such as Ashraf Barhom, Yoav Donat, Oshri Cohen, Reymond Amsalem and the others.
