“Loose Cannons” is a funny comedy, written and directed by Ferzan Ozpetek, known to the audience by his films “A Perfect Day” and “Facing Windows”. In his new work the Italian filmmaker by Turkish origin touches upon the life of sexual minorities - homosexuals.
In the center of the plot is a big and wealthy Italian family, living in the beautiful place somewhere in the south of Italy. The family consists of the head of the family – the owner of a big pasta business, his wife, two brothers Tomasso and Antonio, their sister Elena and the extravagant aunt Luciana.
Tomasso is a gay, who keeps his homosexuality in secret from the family. But one day he decides to tell all the truth about himself. Tomasso finds the coming family celebration suitable for this purpose. But to his great surprise his brother outruns him and makes the same declaration. The father, who has just wanted to make Antonio his partner in family business, responds to this shocking news rather aggressive. He removes Antonio from business and himself and offers his younger brother to take his place. The offer sounds very tempting, but Tomasso doesn’t feel like being engaged in family business at all, he wants to become a writer. Besides he has a boyfriend in Rome, whom he dreams to come back to…
