Ted is a high school freshman. He is a smart but awkward guy, known as Bug. His family consists of his father Ron, who is paralyzed, and his older brother, called Truck. The relations between brothers are not close, although Ted respects his brother a lot and seeks a connection to him constantly. The dream of Ted is to be invited into a group of students, called “The Kings”. Truck is already a member of it, and so far as Ted tries to be like his brother, whom he reveres, soon he becomes one of the Kings.
“The Kings” royalty has its own principles and contests, and each member of it, who goes through their contests, becomes more and more popular in their world. And as soon as Ted passes his challenges, he becomes more and more self-confident and self-satisfied. One of the contests includes getting freshman girls to the parties; the next one is to keep silence, when you become a witness to fights, and so on.
But the longer he spends in this sort of society, the more evident Ted realizes: “The Kings” have nothing to be admired or impressed. On the contrary, soon Ted reveals all the true about this so-called royalty, and this true is connected with corruption. Ted has to fight for his moral principles, which have nothing in common with ones of the group including his brother Truck, with whom he has to confront.
