Joshua and Ben Safdie present their film “Daddy Longlegs”, dedicated to their beloved father and based on real events, taken from their own childhood. Partly a comedy and partly a drama, the film describes Lenny (Ronald Bronstein) and his relations with his two sons Frey and Sage, played by brothers Frey and Sage Ranaldo. The relations are quite difficult and there are several reasons for that. First of all it is because Lenny is divorced and lives separately from the family and his sons. The second reason is his own character, which makes him often to behave as an overgrown child. Therefore the couple of weeks, he spends with his kids every year, turn into real chaos. Trying to be caring and strict father at the same time, Lenny often loses control over Frey and Sage.
Working as a projectionist at the local theater situated in New York City, he often has to work overtime. He takes boys with himself, and this ends by nothing good but their run off the theater. The occasional trip to upstate New York also appears to be rather troublesome than enjoyable.
“Daddy Longlegs” is a funny story, that touches upon the issue of parenthood and difficulties, which each father can experience sometimes, when it comes to upbringing children.
