“The Runaways” is a successful and absorbing story full of music. Directed by Floria Sigismondi, the film retells us the story of a legendary rock band of the 1970s.

Kristen Stewart in the role of Joan Jett and Dakota Fanning in the role of Cherie Currie are two friends, deeply infatuated by music. They did their best to become a prominent rock group.

The events of the film are based on the real facts, taken from Cherie Currie's book “Neon Angel”, where the girl describes the way their group was formed and developed. Full of passion, desire and the urge towards rock music, young girls join together in general intent – to achieve a popularity as the best rock group in the States and not only.

The manager who helped the group to function was impresario Kim Fowley. Five teenage girls from the place near Hollywood, CA joined together. The membership of the team was entirely girls of about sixteen, including Lita Ford with guitar and Sandy West with drums.

In the result of constant hard working the group debuted with their first single “Cherry Bomb”, which was received with approval by the USA public. That was the beginning of a long story of a legendary teenage group. Since that time they released a lot of media and had a great response from the audience.
