Three storylines form the basis of the plot – the lives of three women, which is rather different but nevertheless have something in common.
Karen (Annette Bening) has been suffering constant torments since fourteen years old, when she gave birth to a baby, but gave up her. Karen has neither seen her baby, nor known anything about her since she was born.
Elizabeth (Naomi Watts) has never known her mother and been adopted in her early ages. The woman became an excellent lawyer, but alongside with her professional success, her personal life needs something to be desired.
Lucy (Kerry Washington) opens the third story, which is also connected with motherhood and adoption. She and her husband dream of having a child of their own, but as far as Lucy is infertile, they have to search for a baby for adoption.
A perfect cast, interesting characters, well thought-out episodes and the talent of Garcia as a filmmaker make the film “Mother and Child” really worth seeing.
