“Letters to Juliet” is a sentimental love story, which takes place in the city of Verona. Being a home of legendary Romeo and Juliet, this place has a special atmosphere of love and passion.
Sophie (Amanda Seyfried) travels to Europe and finds herself in Verona, where she becomes one of numerous volunteers, whose main duty is to answer letters to Juliet. These letters are mostly written by people, who suffer from love and are in search for advice concerning their deep feelings.
One day Sophie finds a lost letter, dated around sixties. The sender of the letter is a certain Claire (Vanessa Redgrave), an Englishwoman, who was a teenage at the moment, when she was writing her letter. Sophie is deeply touched and fascinated by the message of Claire and decides to help the woman to find her love, many years after. She responds Claire and inspires her to take a trip to Italy, where she could find her long-lost love and try to re-establish relations, if it is possible.
Unlike Claire her grandson Charlie (Christopher Egan) is of course not delighted with the idea. But as soon as he likes Sophie, the romantic adventure to Italy is guaranteed. What will her beloved answer to Claire? Is it by any chance possible to find one’s love many years later? “Letters to Juliet” is a film, which knows the answer.
